Two ways to connect Moodle

Connect with a web service token
For MoodleCloud, Moodle Workplace, partner-hosted sites, or any Moodle where you cannot install plugins. Your Moodle administrator sets it up once and every teacher can connect.
- Nothing to install. Uses the REST web services built into Moodle.
- Admin creates a dedicated service account and token, then adds it in PaperScorer.
- Teachers connect their account and PaperScorer matches them to Moodle by email.
- Import courses and rosters, then sync scores to an Assignment activity in the Moodle course.
Install the PaperScorer plugin
For institutions that run their own Moodle LMS. The plugin adds a Launch PaperScorer link to course navigation, syncs rosters and grades, and imports Moodle quizzes with their answer keys.
- Works on Moodle 2.7 through 5.x. Install from a zip in Site administration.
- Launch PaperScorer from Course administration, already signed in and scoped to that course.
- Scores write to gradebook grade items you choose, with no duplicate columns.
- Import an existing Moodle quiz as a PaperScorer assessment, questions and answer key included.
Seamless integration
PaperScorer is a Moodle Integration Partner, and the connection is built for the way schools actually run Moodle. Hosted sites connect through Moodle's own web services with a token your administrator controls. Self-hosted sites install a lightweight local plugin. Both paths give teachers the same result: rosters come in, paper assessments get scanned, and scores land in the Moodle gradebook without manual entry.

Import a Moodle quiz, keep the answer key
With the plugin installed, PaperScorer reads a quiz already built in Moodle and brings it across as a full assessment: question text, answer options, point values, and the correct answers. Everything lands as editable text you can reword and reprint.
What to know
- Question text and answer options arrive as editable PaperScorer content, so you can change wording, fix a distractor, or add questions before printing.
- Per-question point values carry over from the Moodle quiz.
- Formatting and images are stripped to plain text for the printed sheet, and any question that loses something is flagged so you can review it.
- Unsupported types are skipped with a reason and the rest of the quiz still imports: calculated, embedded answers (cloze), drag and drop, and random questions.
- Where a conversion is lossy, the question is flagged before you print: partial credit collapsed to one answer, a numerical tolerance dropped, or a question that needs hand grading.
- Quiz import requires the self-hosted plugin and a Moodle role that can already manage the quiz, since an answer key is a broader privilege than a gradebook column.
